Their debut album for the first season, "Empire: Original Soundtrack from Season 1," achieved Billboard 200 chart success, selling 110,000 copies in the first week and receiving critical acclaim. Another soundtrack, "Empire: The Complete Season 1," released on September 11, 2015, compiled all show songs. By December 2015, the album had sold 470,000 copies in the United States, earning Gold certification in January 2016.
