Village People

Village People, the iconic American disco group, originated from French producers Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo, along with lead singer Victor Willis. Formed in the late 1970s, their debut album targeted the gay disco scene with hits like "Macho Man," "In the Navy," and the iconic "Y.M.C.A." Known for suggestive lyrics and flamboyant costumes, they symbolized American masculinity and gay-fantasy personas. Despite lineup changes, Victor Willis remains the sole original member, and their enduring hit "Y.M.C.A." was added to the National Recording Registry in 2020.
